Blume, a social discovery app that matches people based on latest selfies

In an era, where there is a presence of a plethora of online dating apps and sites which has made meeting people much easier has also created problems such as cat fishing and a huge lack of emotional connect, to solve this problem three guys came together to create a new app called Blume which fixates on these issues in a fun and creative way, one selfie at a time. Blume is a new social discovery app that is solving the biggest problem in the online dating industry; the complete uncertainty about who’s actually behind the profile you are matching.

On Blume you connect via profiles, but match via freshly taken selfies. This makes you certain about people’s true identity, thus creating a safe and trusted environment where people can be themselves.

You will never have to worry about who you are truly chatting with, or meeting up with in real life. You match with real people, as in real life.

This app started out when Daniel Delouya, CEO, who is merely 21 years old with an in depth market understanding, product development, strategy, marketing, UI/UX joined hands with Umar Akram, the COO who has founded and led independent app store on mobiles prior to Google and Apple and also worked on app projects with notable companies like Facebook, Ericsson, Samsung etc. and Simon Benfeldt, CTO who is a Lead developer and has previously worked at Tradable and DFDS with software development, product management, business intelligence and so on to create this app ‘Blume’ to solve give another alternative to meet people specifically targeting single people between 18-30 years of age.

Here’s how it works:

1. Secretly ‘Like’ or ‘Skip’ people. If the ‘Like’ is mutual – you connect but you don’t match fully.

2. Take a selfie and send it to your connection. Your selfie cannot be seen until your connection sends you one back.

3. Once you have both sent a selfie it’s time to reveal each other. You and your connection’s selfie displays for 7 seconds before disappearing forever.

4. If you both click “Yes” to each other’s selfies during the 7 seconds, you match fully and can

start a chat!

Daniel Delouya, CEO says Blume provides a safe environment where people can just relax and be themselves. “Women, especially, tell us that for the first time ever they feel safe on a dating app by not having to worry about catfishing. That is why 65% of users who match actually initiate a conversation. Blume creates a platform where people can actually form authentic emotional relationships.” With plans of monetizing soon and a huge competition from the other dating apps out there, Blume plans to spread the word on campuses and do some touring to different campuses. Blume is a newer, fresher alternative and is incredibly intriguing and making a lot of waves. Time will tell if Blume will actually bloom and make it as one of the top apps.

Here’s wishing well for the team.
