If you think filing an insurance claim for, say, your damaged car is frustrating then spare a thought for the person who has to deal with a pile of unprocessed claim – that is rather inefficiently gathered – to salvage his conscience! There is a need for some technological grease that makes engines of old-fangled institutions like insurance run smoother and give better mileage for all those involved. And while established solution providers can’t really take sharp corners in terms of revamping their offerings with the cutting edge, startups suffer no such baggage of size and can innovate freely.
ClientDesk is one such startup that is seeking to provide a hassle-free experience to the people having insurance and an efficient support management dashboard for the people processing the insurance claim.
About the Founders
ClientDesk is started by Newton Asare II, Rajeev Kugan and Javier Menendez. Newton is a passionate entrepreneur. He utilizes his experiences in the ICT, Financial, and Social sectors to help build organizations that are scalable as well as sustainable for long term value creation. Javier is a code junkie, that can “speak” any language in the world of development. Javier’s extensive knowledge in the software development space enables the team to explore and utilize the fastest growing technologies. Rajeev is the jack of all trades. Having his feet both in the coding and creative fields. Rajeev loves bringing things to life by utilizing all sorts of media outlets for marketing and branding. He lives by the quote: “Every Pixel Counts”.
About the Startup
The team worked previously with a startup called ClaimCast from November 2013 to December 2014 and learnt a lot about the insurance industry. They initially took a B2C approach with ‘if you build it, they will come‘ mentality but after bootstrapping for over a year they decided to pivot to ClientDesk as a B2B solution with a client-facing mobile app.
ClientDesk provides intake support and sales automation tools to help property & casualty insurance companies and intermediaries retain clients, increase sales, and reduce operational costs. Newton explains, “This is done by personalizing engagement and sales efforts with people filing an insurance claim and then automating the claims intake process for the administrator. Our cloud-based platform is offered as a white label solution and can be customized to meet the branding needs and technical requirements of businesses.”
About their Plans
Most of the players in the insurance SaaS space are focused on providing back-end solution which according to Newton neglects important aspect of client relationship. “ClientDesk is a client-centric app and focused on providing a great experience for the end-user; acting as a support utility for users and a marketing tool for the insurers”, he adds.
The company has ambitious plans, explains Newton, “We want to integrate our solutions directly into vehicles of the consumers leveraging the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) and automotive tech like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.”
ClientDesk is targeting the Property and Casualty (P&C) market, initially focusing on the auto segment and planned expansion into the home insurance market. The auto insurance market in 2015 in the US is estimated at $208 billion with a 1.3 % growth rate.
There are multiple plans starting from $1499/month. They also license the technology to software vendors in the industry. Check out their website for more details.
