As an indie musician/composer, Eelco Jellema knew “how difficult it can be to simply sell your own creations.” The European Union’s VAT rules, introduced on January 1st 2015, do not really make it easy for smaller companies to sell there amazing products online. This encouraged Eelco, a “designer turned front-end developer turned developer” build Toucan.
“I built Toucan with a very clear vision – Make it ridiculously simple to sell your (digital) products to your customers.” says Eelco. He adds, “With support for European known payment methods like Paypal, Sofort banking, bancontact/mister cash and more, it’s really easy to get your products in your fans hands.”
Toucan is a simple-to-use service that creates a completely customizable window for your product, letting your fans purchase your product. Toucan’s target users are Indie creators of books, music, film and their fans based in Europe. It currently focusses on EU-based sellers and buyers and Eelco doesn’t think it has competitors right now.
Toucan plans to expand itself by adding more languages, coming up with more customizable product page, slicker dashboard for sellers and so on. The whole operation is monetized by charging a fee per successful transaction.
