“In high school we started to work on an app idea and originally looked for app developers in our school who were willing to work for equity and believed in our idea. We eventually found one, but we thought why not create a platform that will connect the two groups and streamline the process with legal documents as well”, says the team.

Like most startups, getting the first couple of hundred people to sign up and believe in the concept without any history was originally the team’s most challenging task. After that hump and the first ideas being built for equity, the momentum began to pick up.

“Our next step is adding a marketplace to Spark where developers who have earned equity in startups can list and sell their equity for immediate cash. This marketplace will be launched this year”, says the team.
At the moment, Spark is mainly targeting entrepreneurs with ideas, specifically those without money to bring them to life such as college students. In addition, it is also targeting app and web developers who are looking to beef up their resume and earn equity in interesting startups that can later be sold for cash on Spark’s marketplace.

“Spark is monetized through promoted posts, for example having your idea broadcast on the front page costs money or having highlighted post costs money. In addition, we take a small % equity in the concepts brought to life through our site”, says the duo.
